While people in the U.S. started to come out of hard quarantine last year, 21-year-old Andrea Kae Venegas found herself stationed on a military base in Japan for three months straight.

Social media has been an important part of Generation Z’s lives, especially throughout the pandemic. During 2020, YouTube saw a 95% increase in new channels. In fact, the video-streaming service is the most-used media platform among 18- to 29-year olds this year.

Living in a home away from home, the Filipino-American Gen Zer decided to start a YouTube channel to document not only her passions of lifestyle, beauty and fashion, but also her unique experience as a military child growing up and living abroad.

This video story was produced using both a smartphone and Zoom.
